After an intolerable length of inactivity, it was time to clear out the cobwebs and start afresh.
~writers-adoption is now active once again.
If you have not heard of this group before (which is quite likely), this journal will give you a brief outline.
Writers-Adoption is a group designed to create a largely informal mentoring system within DA. The idea is that writers team up for the purpose of aiding one another - albeit it is expected that in most circumstances one of the two will be more experienced in their field than the other.
(However, there is nothing wrong with, for example, a poet and prosewriter teaming up to expand their learning on the different styles of writing from each other.)
If you feel you have what it takes to help another writer advance in their art, then perhaps being an adopter is for you.
If you feel that you have more to learn, and don't feel up to 'teaching', then perhaps the idea of being an adoptee sounds good.
If you feel you can teach AND are willing to keep learning - then you may both adopt a deviant as well as be adopted.
The basic premise of the project is this:
You want to teach and/or you want to learn about the art and craft of writing.
The basic prerequisite for joining is a willingness to dedicate some effort to the process. Learning is not an overnight thing.
So, on to the raising of dusty curtains:
Welcome to the Writers Adoption Centre!
The idea is to give less-experienced writers the opportunity to be helped by a more experienced/skilled writer.
The goal is improvement of the writing craft.
System:
These are the procedures.
If you follow them, there should be no difficulties at all.
You can find a Frequently Asked Questions section here: [link]
I suggest taking a look at it if you have questions.
If you are willing to adopt another writer:
Either send the group account a note with the title 'ADOPTER'
or
Post a comment on this journal
Whichever method you use, your message must contain the following information in point form, using the template given:
(These are in regards to 'what you can teach another writer about' - Please be as concise as possible.)
Preferred style of writing: Poetry, Prose, or Both?
For Poetry -
Preferred genre(s)? (i.e - urban, human nature, etc)
Preferred style(s)? (i.e - free-verse, structured, etc)
For Prose -
Fiction preferred genre(s)? (i.e general, fantasy, sci-fi, etc)
Non-Fiction preferred genre(s)? (i.e editorials, essays, biographical, etc)
For both Poetry and Prose -
What you think you can best help an aspiring writer with.
Those wanting to be adopted:
You look for an adopter from the current ranks of adopters.
The 'Adopters - Detailed Profiles' list is there to aid you in picking the best adopter for your needs.
You should also examine the adopter's writings, and decide if they are what you are looking for.
Then, if you find an adopter who you wish to be adopted by, send them a note with 'Adoption Request' in the title.
Once there are enough adopters, I will start an 'Adoptees' list.
Any enquiries that you have that aren't in the journal or in the FAQ can be sent either to the group account via note/journal comment, or via note to `

I still have the old details in storage.
If you'd like to provide updated information, then mention it in the note. Thank you!

Your head will collapse if there's nothing in it.
Then, when he is screaming like the nancy girl that he is, you say 'UPDATE THE GODSDAMNED LISTS!' with as much menace as your voice can muster.
Then, darkcrescendo magically finds the password (hurrah!), feels guilty over having lost it in the first place (although it was his computer's fault), and goes about the mystical process of telling you to 'read the instructions they are quite clear and explicit don't you know or even better there is an FAQ go bug it please I have not slept for ten years'

In the next couple of weeks, I shall attempt to bring it back up to speed, and deal with the issues occuring from the lack of clickable links within texts.

I shall follow what is right
And Justice shall prevail.
I also gave some thought to setting myself up as an adopter, but I am not confident enough in my abilities to go through with such a pursuit, so I would prefer to be adopted first, should anyone be willing to take me.
